Relay For Life, June 8th
Submitted by usa2k on Sun, 04/22/2012 - 13:42
June 8th I will be participating along with my wife Heather, and my oldest daughter Sarah in a Relay For Life 18 hour walking event. The Team I am on is headed up by my niece Erica. Her father passed away rather quickly from pancreatic cancer just more than a year ago. (September 2010)
If anyone wishes to sponsor me in a donation, go to:

Had a great time
It was fun. Started at 6PM, and finished at 12 noon the next day. My pedometer clocked about 55,000 steps those two days.
There were two bouncy houses for kids, and other games. The luminary happened at 11PM and consisted of bags decorated with names and pictures of people remembered, who died of cancer. They had glow sticks lighting them, and lined the track at the high school every couple of feet and spanned pretty much the entire track.
Much of Relay for Life is focused on the survivors. Many came and were easily spotted by the purple Relay for Life T-shirts they wore.
If you ever have an opportunity, go see one. The community is welcome; you don't need to be on a team to show up. Our team was selling a hotdog, chips, and a pop or water all for $2 - but you could pay more - it all went to Relay for Life.
Their slogan:
You can even still donate for Team Brower :)

It is always long but rewarding. My niece is so driven to honor her dad and fight this disease!
