Drupal Website

The SolaRoof.org/wiki is a very extensive wealth of documentation that everyone should explore, yet the Drupal pages should be a complimentary form of communication.

As you can see by this Page, Drupal7 has a handy Blog feature that I've turned on, and has been made available for SolaRoof enthusiasts that sign-up. I hope people sign-up to contribute Eco and Site topical content that will enrich the experiences of all who frequent SolaRoof.org.

I really like the HomePage you have created Jim! What a great step forward to position our community to make 2012 a year of global transition to EcoLiving!

The logo is great, however I would suggest the graphic of the roof line should not have the silhouette of a chimney on the roof - but the blue and yellow lines forming the roof are a good graphic representation - since in the roof we have the use of water (the Blue) and within the SolaRoof we have the plants and algae (the Green) - together making up the BlueGreen solution.

One idea that I have to connect the Drupal content to the Wiki content is to ask if there is a way to use WikiWords here, in the Drupal pages, to connect as links to the pages in the Wiki where these WikiWords are used as PageNames. Also, when we go to the Wiki can we retain the Drupal header on the Wiki pages, so that linking back to solaroof.org is easy. The slogan Open Eco Technology is good and we can add also "Open Eco Community" and these could become links to these sections of the Wiki - the technology links to the SolaRoof WikiGroup and the community link is to the OpenEcoCommunity section of the Wiki.

I am very happy to make my first Blog entry at our new solaroof portal and I anticipate the fun we will have as this collaboration emerges.

I wish I was handy with the graphics like the fine folks here http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r25864712-Thinking-about-a-logo-for-my-b...

If there are some graphics pros reading this here, I welcome all the help we can get. The favicon choice was more for contrast to the wiki pages so the tabs on the browser were quick to jump back and forth.

You can change the Slogan line "Open Eco Technology" here: http://www.solaroof.org/admin/config/system/site-information
That is a bad link for non-Administrator Roles.

WikiWords vary, and do not seem to translate directly for Drupal from the searching I did so far. There are endless areas to explore with Drupal, and this is the D7 level of Drupal. Drupal does not really know about the wiki subdirectory of wiki web pages. Due to the Module "External Links" they get tagged as being a link outside of Drupal. I've not given up yet on making WikiWord style mark-ups like PMwiki offers, but it migh need some custom code beyond my know-how.

We could use motivated Drupal volunteers here for graphics and structure. Maybe some will read this? I know the whole technology of SolaRoof could benefit from a Community of active contributors.

Looks like Drupal is supporting links within the text of pages - I guess it is some kind of markup - for example at this page http://www.forumforthefuture.org/blog/our-new-strategy-transforming-food...
you find in the 6th paragraph three links in the text that highlight when you hover over them with the cursor: resilient, food system, finance system, sustainable energy solutions - these are all links but not obvious until you hover the cursor over these text links. Using a WikiWord is simply a more obvious link. I am thinking about this as a navigation aid that would show (perhaps in pop up window) pages (in the Wiki or Drupal content) that have related information. I also hope that we will have some help from some Drupal volunteers!

My photo is too large!

Size of photo can be set here: http://www.solaroof.org/#overlay=admin/config/people/accounts
Its at 400x300 currently - yours is 400x360, and I just dropped it to 200x150
If you re-upload it should get downsized

Also there are wiki-like utilities that are not exactly like PMwiki. Those will need review and testing, and may not (or may) allow for the auto creation of other pages. I cannot tell if the example links you referenced are simply links or wiki-style links.

UPDATE: I changed the spec to 335x250, and re-upped your pic. 200x150 looked too small when I had tried it.

Thanks to the always helpful DSLReports.com folks who are regulars there, the roof line is more eco in looks.

Jim, I agree the roof line is now in line with the solaroof concept, which is that we can avoid using fossil fuel. We will use BioFuel but the combustion gases from burning BioGas are clean CO2 and water vapour - so we can release the "flue gas" into the closed atmosphere of the SolaRoof building, where it is consumed by plants and algae photosynthesis. The SolaRoof energy is "clean" and operates with a negative carbon footprint. Using SolaRoof it is easy to "be the change" and create an ECO lifestyle.
