(My bad. I misinterpreted the calendar and put this on the wrong date. Sorry - Bobby)

T.,

The several 3D software packages you mentioned, I gather you were saying each is free. Do you know what O Ss each runs on? (BRL-CAD appears to be Unix.) Is there a widely accepted standard for 3D files?

Thanks, Bobby

Great to see that you are already using the Blog. We can add comments on any Blog page. Like this one is for Monday so you could have added your comment to 0605 - maybe the date is a little confusing - we use yyyymmdd as the date name. But it is easy just to refer to the calendar. Now we can comment on this page without thinking up a "Page Name?". This facilitates discussions - each person who makes a comment on a blog page just signs after the last paragraph of their comment. - Sola Roof Guy

Calendar:

  • 27.06.2005: More success with Q Cad. I figured out some ways to make things work, so I made a new template and a new test drawing. It still has too many errors, but is much improved. In Files, it is in the Bubble House folder as TmpTst02.dxf
  • 26.06.2005: Limited success in Q Cad. This evening, I was able to produce my first recognizable drawing in Q Cad. Even though it was a very simple drawing, many errors remain. But at least, it kind of looks like a drawing. I will post to Files on the Discussion board. - Bobby
  • 20.06.2005: QCad has proven as hard to get started with as Rick reported Autocad is. I have found "Autocad LT 2005 for Dummies" at a local library. It takes too long to get results. I was able to get results the first night with JFDraw. The book is probably OK if you are being paid to learn Autocad. I have another book requested at the library. I hope it will start faster.
  • 06.06.2005: At left.
  • 05.06.2005: Just to give this a try - I have copied the post that "topdollarpage" made to the Yahoo forum today:
